What’s the most humane way to put down a suffering bird?
Question by fuzzhead_smurf: What’s the most humane way to put down a suffering bird?
I’ve been taking care of these baby birds, and just recently, on of them has seriously decreased in health. Please don’t bash me for not knowing how to take care of birds. I have hand-fed and rehabbed many baby birds, and have four more successful foster babies besides this one. It’s gasping, unable to move, and has it’s legs all curled up under it. If I put it down in the towel with it’s siblings, it just tips over and keeps panting. I know for sure it is going to die, and I don’t want it to suffer for hours on end, gasping fo air. I want to know what I can do to put it down quickly and painlessly, as soon as possible. I can’t stand watching it suffer, and I feel horrible. I can’t take it to the vet now because its almost midnight, and it will die before morning if I don’t do anything. Please help me.
The bird just passed. I’m glad it was quick. Please still answer this though. I would like opinions in case this ever happens again in the future. Thanks.
